Alpha science classroom: The steps to a make ice volcano

Step 1: We started with small bowls and placed a golf ball in the bottom of each. Any ball that fits into the bowl and doesn't float will work fine. We lined each bowl with plastic wrap so that the golf ball was underneath and the plastic came up over the sides.

Step 2: Next we filled the bowls with mix some water, 3 teaspoons of baking soda and food coloring. Make sure you pour enough of the mixture in so that it covers the ball or you'll end up with a hole through the middle of your ice volcano.

Step 3: Put ice volcano in the refrigerator, Freeze for an hour and a half. Then take it out of the fridge, let it melt a little. Remove the plastic wrap and Take out the golf (You can ask your parents to help you.)

Step4: Finally pour the vinegar into the grooves left by the golf. Wait a moment, and the ice volcano begins to erupt.
