Step 1

Children go to the kitchen to collect the necessary materials and start preparing to make hot ice to warm their hands!

Step 2

Children poured 3 cups of vinegar into the pot. Slowly add 3 tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture. Add a little at a time. (If you want to make more hand warmers, you can increase the amount by adding 1 tablespoon of baking soda per 1 cup of vinegar.)

Step 3

As the liquid decreases, you will start to see crystals forming on the pan walls. Once the liquid is reduced to about 25% of the initial volume, pay attention to whether there is a thin film on the surface. Once you see the movie, turn off the heating. Transfer the liquid to a clean jar, leaving the crystals behind. Your solution may be light yellow.

Step 4

Children need to wait until the pot cools down, carefully scrape the white crystals off the wall, and put them in the bag. You only want to get dry crystals, not a solution.

Now, kids check your hot ice solution tank. While it is still hot, pour it into the second bag. Children may need to put it in a double bag to prevent leakage.

Step 6

Children put the hot ice solution bag in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes. After the bag has cooled down, you can use the hand warmer. To activate the hot ice, carefully open the bag containing the solution and put in a handful of white crystals scraped from the pan. Warm your hands instantly! Your hot ice hand warmer can also be reused. Heat the mixture again. Once it becomes liquid, put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes and it can be used again.
