We must teach rocket launches on TV. How many stages do the children observe the rocket? Why do the different parts fall in the middle? Today, Alpha Science Class teaches children the DIY 2-Stage Balloon Rocket children’s physical science experiment activity, so that children can understand the growth process and physics knowledge of the second child’s children, help the children grow up, and explore this kid's Science experiments activities, grow into the happiest children.

Alpha Science Classroom:DIY 2-Stage Balloon Rocket Materials

  • Two shaped balloons (These are slender balloons used to make balloon animals, not round ones.)

  • Two straws

  • Two large binders

  • Paper towel tube

  • Fishing line or line (Fishing line usually works better because it has lower friction.)

  • Scissors

  • Clear or masking tape

  • Another person who helped set up the rocket

  • Balloon pump to make it easier to inflate the balloon (optional)

  • Two sturdy pieces of furniture should be at least a few feet apart (you can tie a fishing line or rope to them)-the farther the better!

  • You can set up an open space for events

Alpha Science Classroom: DIY 2-Stage Balloon Rocket production steps

Step 2: First, the children inflate the first balloon about three-quarters full. Ask your assistant to pinch the nozzle of the balloon, but don't tie it. Alternatively, you can use adhesive to clamp the nozzle and prevent the balloon from deflating.

Step 2: Children, first put the nozzle of the first balloon through the cardboard circle, and then press it aside. Make sure not to deflate the balloon.

Step 3: Child, then pass the second balloon part through the cardboard ring so that its nozzle is in the same direction as the first balloon.

Step 4: The children carefully inflate the second balloon about three-quarters. Your goal is to inflate the balloon so that it presses on the inside of the cardboard ring and squeezes the nozzle of the first balloon. This may require some practice-be patient! It will be much easier if one person grabs the cardboard ring and the first balloon, and the other person inflates the second balloon. If you do this, you should be able to release the nozzle of the first balloon without deflating. If you run into trouble, you can temporarily turn off the nozzle of the first balloon.

Step 5: The children clamp the nozzle of the second balloon with their fingers or clamps. Stick the balloon on the straw and point the balloon toward the fishing line. Try to make sure that the balloon and straw are in a straight line. If the balloon is very curved and the straw is twisted at an angle, this will cause additional friction along the fishing line and slow down your rocket.

Alpha Science Classroom: The Science Behind DIY 2-Stage Balloon Rocket

As an example of the children in the Alpha Science Classroom, imagine carrying a heavy backpack while climbing a mountain. This requires a lot of energy, right? Now imagine that you want to hike all the way to the top of the mountain so that you can see the beautiful view-but when you are halfway through, you decide to put down your backpack so that you don't have to carry it all the way to the top of the mountain. OK. This means that the second half of your hike does not require as much energy as the first half.

The same concept applies to launching rockets. Putting things into space requires a lot of energy. Scientists and engineers did not create huge rockets that could enter orbit at any time but developed multi-stage rockets. When the first stage is finished burning fuel, it will break away and fall back to earth. This allows the smaller, lighter second stage of the rocket to continue to operate without having to carry the weight of the first stage. This method usually requires less fuel to get something into orbit.

In this children's physical science experiment project, children will use balloons to build their own two-stage rockets. When you inflate the balloon and release the nozzle, air will be pushed out from the back of the balloon. According to Newton's third law of motion (for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction force), this means that the balloon will be pushed forward. This allows you to make simple (and safe!) rockets using some common household items.

After the children DIY the Level 2 balloon rocket, do you want to make more rockets, open your heart, and explore more kid's science experiments on rockets? I hope that today, the children's physical science experiment activities in Alpha Science Classroom can open the door for children to explore scientific dreams and find the joy of science.

Alpha Science Toys also prepared a complete set of children's physics science experiment kits , hoping to help children explore scientific knowledge and grow up happily.
