Alpha Science Toys: New Toy-Related Test Methods announced by the Ministry of Health of Canada

On May 23, 2019, Alpha Science toys learned that the Ministry of Health of Canada has announced the new kinds of toy-related test methods. These new requirements of test methods have a direct and profound impact of the toy company, especially the company's market is in Canada.

The test methods are listed below:

The flame resistance of tents;

Determination of the flash point of solids, pastes or gels by the closed cup test method;

Reasonably foreseeable use: toys;

Determination of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes isomers (BTEX) in consumer products by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry;

Detection and identification of various asbestos fibers in consumer products;

Determination of total lead and cadmium in metallic consumer products by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy; and,

Determination of bulk asbestos in consumer products and cosmetics by polarized light microscopy.
